Sundown

Cara, 12, wakes up in a strange hospital with no memory of when or why she was admitted. A creature made of shadows stalks her from the dark corners, but the nurses and staff seem to ignore her questions and pleas for help. After fending off an attack from the creature one night, Cara learns that it is hurt by light, so she steals a flashlight from one of the guards and attempts to fight the creature and escape the hospital. The creature leads Cara to an MRI room, and while trying to strike him with the beam of the flashlight, Cara looks into a window and realizes the truth: she’s not a little girl, but an old woman with Alzheimer’s who’s in hospice at the facility and the creature is the shade of her abusive late father. At first, this crushes her, but by accepting the truth, Cara is able to fight off the creature and reclaim some of the power of her younger self.
