Set in Arizona in the days following the 1997 Phoenix Lights sightings, the story follows Joyanna, a 16-year-old girl raised in a strict polygamist commune who is about to be married off to the elderly Prophet who leads their community. As the ceremony approaches, Joyanna struggles with the life she’s being forced into and the responsibility she feels toward the younger children growing up in the same system.
Inside the isolated community, preparations for the wedding move forward as family members gather at the church to witness what they believe is a sacred union. But beneath the surface, tension builds as Joyanna quietly questions her faith, future, and the cost of obedience.
Later that night, a group of college students filming a documentary nearby unknowingly stumble upon the aftermath of an event that exposes the disturbing reality of what had been happening inside the commune.
