Imagine yourself in your worst nightmare. Every feeling you have is amplified, every breath you take is a struggle and each thought that comes crashing into your mind is always the worst it could be. You feel like you’re drowning and no one is coming to save you. These feelings of helplessness and fragility are unfortunately commonplace when you suffer with anxiety, and in the short film, “Distortion” it is explored how these emotions can run riot and can create a world in which everything becomes a living hell for the sufferer.

Distortion” (Sweden), a tense, disturbing 5-minute thriller directed by Fleur Brouwer, is now available  for streaming at Independent Shorts Awards TV. Awarded Silver Best Microfilm and honorable mention for Best Sound Design (Kaan Orgunmat) in February 2020.

“With ‘Distortion’ we have tried to show how your mind plays tricks on you, but also to show you that you are never really alone, and there are always people who care. For me this project was an amazing opportunity to visualise where I, and I know many others have been and unfortunately struggled through. It has made me realise the growth I have gone through in my own recovery and hope that with this film we can show others that they are not alone, and inspire them in turn to seek help should they need to”, says Fleur Brouwer, a director and actress originally from Netherlands.
