During the summer of 1941, Elizabeth moves to the United States from war torn Britain that has been battling the Germans for almost two years and comes to live with her auntie and uncle in a small Pacific Northwest town. She becomes a volunteer for the Ground Observer Corps as a plane spotter for the Army Air Force’s Aircraft Warning Service watching the skies for enemy aircraft.
