Actor-Writer-Producer Frank Crim Joins Industry Panel at the 8th Annual Independent Shorts Awards

Independent Shorts Awards is pleased to announce that actor, writer, producer, and director Frank Crim will join the Industry Panel as a guest speaker at the 8th Annual Independent Shorts Awards on September 19, 2026, at Regal LA Live in Los Angeles.

With a career spanning theater, commercials, television, film, independent production, and performance coaching, Crim brings decades of practical experience from both sides of the camera to the conversation, which will take place from 4:45 PM to 6:00 PM in Cinema 10.

About Frank Crim

Frank Crim began his career on stage at the age of six. Since then, he has appeared in more than 100 stage productions, over 175 commercials, more than 50 television productions, and dozens of films.

Alongside his extensive acting career, Crim has spent more than 30 years writing and producing. He is a co-founder of Dreaming Dog Entertainment and 4 Men & A Guy Productions, serving as both a writer and producer for the two companies.

His production credits include the award-winning films Zen Noir and Home Auto Life, which he wrote and directed; the comedy film Outta Sync; and In Character, a web series featuring Hollywood character actors from several generations, which he hosts.

Frank Crim

An early participant in filmmaking for the web, Crim co-produced Survivors, an iFilm short parodying the popular television series Survivor. He later wrote, directed, and produced the short film Blonde.

Crim served as a writer and producer on the award-winning web series Bible Cliff Notes, portraying God in the lead role.

Beyond his work in front of and behind the camera, Crim has worked as a script doctor and private acting coach for nearly four decades, helping actors and filmmakers strengthen performances, characters, and stories.

Attendees at the 8th Annual Independent Shorts Awards will have the opportunity to hear Frank Crim share insights drawn from a lifetime of professional experience across theater, television, film, writing, and independent production. His understanding of both the creative and practical sides of the industry offers an especially valuable perspective for emerging filmmakers and performers.

Representing Mr. Fleischmann as Director and Actor

Crim is the director and one of the actors in the short film Mr. Fleischmann, featuring Walter Koenig, which will screen earlier in the day as part of Program 11: Human Stories — Documentary, Drama & History, from 2:45 PM to 4:25 PM in Cinema 10.

Set in present-day Los Angeles, Mr. Fleischmann follows a reclusive Holocaust survivor who is confronted by the Nazi officer responsible for the deaths of his parents—now living next door. When the man is found dead, the resulting investigation begins to blur the line between justice and vengeance.
