SanFrancisco, 1968. Samuel David, a 21-year-old man and sufferer of anxiety and acute OCD is a Servant of the Light. Fresh out of training, he has been dispatched on his first mission to lead sinners to salvation. His assigned residence is The Willows, an upscale apartment downtown. Aside from a single phone contact from the cult’s leader known only as ‘Mother’, he is alone. His first sinner is a young hippie girl left stranded in front of his apartment building. He offers her aid and invites her to come up to his third floor apartment. She accepts.
Once the girl is inside, Samuel’s naivety results in a hasty seduction. Due to his awkward demeanor and his overall ignorance of the world, the girl comes to suspect an ulterior motive and effectively evades his obvious tactics. In no time at all, Samuel has failed his first mission. His quarry is headed for the door and he will surely be reprimanded …or worse, removed for re-training.
Before the girl can escape, Samuel panics and chooses a rapid assault. In his attempt to fast-forward a ‘salvation kill’, he is met with a shocking display of resistance that leads to his own fatal injury. As he lies dying on the floor in a puddle of his own blood, he witnesses the girl making a phone call. It’s to ‘Mother’. Only then does he discover that not only was he was being tested, but the cult is nothing more than a ruse to harvest human organs for the black market. His final realization …he is now a donor.
