Set against the backdrop of intense gang drama in Union City’s Decoto District in 2007, This docudrama series starring Vernon Williams, Laia Albert, Jonathan Jones, Paul Yng Og Harris, Dajanique Hill, Doncieno Esponalo as Vernon chronicles true events surrounding the tragic murder of freshman Vernon Eddins Jr. Chased alongside his friends, Vernon was killed on the campus of Barnard-White Middle School just four days before Christmas and right before his 15th birthday. Following the attack, five alleged gang members convicted for his murder. “Run” “No Bullying in the Building-Vernon Eddins Jr” powerfully portrays the courageous journey of a mother fighting for justice for her murdered son, targeted and killed by members of Decoto’s familia.
The docudrama intersects with the efforts of a newly elected woman prosecutor in Alameda County Kelly Lowe, determined to dismantle the gang lifestyle in Union City, bias atmosphere surrounding school officials while simultaneously fighting for peace within her own household. “RUN” captures a community’s profound struggle to tear down walls of hatred, bridge the divide, and restore harmony and peace to an entire community plagued with street violence. Vernon remembered as an enduring voice for justice who tragically lost his life to bullying.
