Role Theory follows Elva, a celebrated actress and writer, as she prepares for Aiden, her longtime collaborator and former lover, to rehearse the breakup he intends to perform for his wife. Inside a Los Angeles apartment filled with clocks, mirrors, books, awards, and fragile porcelain figurines, their shared history fractures into a volatile confrontation over love, authorship, performance, and who gets final cut over the story of “us.” As rehearsal, memory, and reality collapse into one another, Elva must decide whether she is still playing the role Aiden needs, or finally becoming someone beyond it.
