Montserratumentary

Montserratumentary

This short documentary aims to showcase the strength and generosity of a community shaken by a volcanic crisis.

In 1995 the island of Montserrat experienced its first eruption since humans landed on it with eruptive periods finally ending in 2010. The already small island’s population was reduced from around 12,000 to just over 4,000 today. As we explored the island via a study abroad opportunity, we were struck by the ways the community persists through neighborly generosity. A concept growing increasingly rare in more developed countries.

This film includes a series of interviews with locals and important community members we met while on island, who give their perspective; how could you be anything but generous?
