B.D. Jackson: An American Photographer

When B.D. Jackson moved to Southern California in 1901, he’d been a professional photographer for over 30 years. Seeking a healthier climate, the Michigan native became enamored with the pure air and rugged beauty of the foothills. For the next 30 years he documented the steady growth of Los Angeles, with special focus on the foothill communities. Utilizing the latest AI technology, local filmmaker John Newcombe takes us back in time to imagine what this area really looked like before Los Angeles became the second largest city in America.
