Homeless Mary (late 60s) waits to meet Bob where they first met and fell in love in June, 1967: an ocean viewpoint below Hearst Castle on the road to the Monterey pop festival during “the summer of love.” Mary believes Bob still loves her and will keep his promise to meet her even after being apart for fifty years. Once reunited, Mary believes they will return to Monterey. This dream has kept Mary alive while blinding her to the reason why she and Bob split up after Monterey, and why they will never be able to return to the past.
