The Mark of Progress- United Farmers

The Mark of Progress – United Farmers follows Sooraj, the son of a small farmer, who chooses to return to his village after becoming an agricultural engineer, defying the lure of a city career. Guided by his mother’s sacrifices and a belief in collective progress, Sooraj inspires fellow small and marginal farmers to unite through cooperative farming.

By adopting scientific agricultural practices, soil testing, balanced nutrition, and leveraging the support of cooperative societies, the village overcomes challenges of fragmented landholdings, middlemen, low productivity, and rising costs. As prosperity returns to the fields and dignity returns to farming, Sooraj’s vision proves that true progress lies not in individual success, but in unity – where shared effort, trust, and cooperation become the strongest force for sustainable rural development.

Sooraj’s girl-friend Bhavna, who had earlier chosen an urban career, returns after recognising the meaningful change taking place in the village. Her return reflects a broader awakening among the youth – that education, innovation, and modern thinking can transform agriculture from within.

The film concludes with a powerful message: true progress is not about leaving one’s roots behind, but about returning to them.
