Set in a high school jazz program, the story follows Lev, a scrappy young upright bassist, as he prepares for a nerve-wracking audition only to find himself locked in a quiet musical showdown with his more polished rival, Landon. With no dialogue, the film unfolds through visual rhythm and the expressive language of the upright bass. Featuring student performances of two jazz classics, *Miles Davis’s Freddie Freeloader and Dizzy Gillespie’s On the Sunny Side of the Street (the source music accompanies them in their “minds”) the film pays loving homage to the greats, bringing the music to a new generation, while telling a timeless story of self-expression, competition, and quiet determination.
