“Somewhere in Germany” is based on a story involving the consequences of war. It chronicles the ripple effect caused by the untimely death of a young soldier during the second world war and the way in which his family is left to cope. It culminates thirty years later with the discovery of the letters that were written home to his wife and daughter. The letters had been made to be secreted away, until the mother’s deathbed confession allows for the daughter to finally come to terms with his loss after all those years.
