This 40-minute documentary explores the work of Pet Refuge, a unique sanctuary which was founded specifically to shelter animals from households experiencing family violence. Research shows that survivor-victims are more likely to leave danger if their animals are safe as so often domestic violence and animal cruelty go hand in hand. The film intercuts scenes from the warm and loving atmostphere at Pet Refuge with case studies of victims whose animals are sheltered there while they re-establish themselves.
