A boy from a rural sports school in China is selected and brought to Beijing to star in a movie. In a run-down apartment, the boy practices his acting skills, reads the script, and meets other actors who are staying there. The boy is filled with anticipation, hoping to become a big star, but he soon discovers that he is not the protagonist.
