In Stillness

Stroboscopic single or multi-channel video. Experimental improvisation for camera, drone flute, and bee. Centering the “unperceived” physicality of light and sound, the spectator is placed in a phenomenological esoteric ritual between bee and flower. The transference of energy through the medium, transmutating from one state to another. “Ying and yang, movement and stillness, are in heaven and in the human body / In the empty center of wu-chi transforms the lead into gold. / Know the methods of the rising and falling of the pure and impure, / And the bright light will chase away the night in the three thousand worlds,” excerpt from Cultivating Stillness: A Taoist Manual for Transforming Body and Mind.
