Nancy, a college freshman, drives home after a hangover workout, when she hears on the radio that two women, Margaret and Lisa, were killed at a sorority party the night before. Nancy was at the party, but she wasn’t Margaret’s or Lisa’s friend: she was their competitor. Throughout the evening of the party, all three women fight for the attention of the handsome Newcomer, the accidental King of the night. It’s only when Nancy downs a gifted drink from the Newcomer that she discovers something more sinister is afoot. The Newcomer goes upstairs with his “prizes,” Margaret and Lisa, while Nancy reels from finding her drink has been drugged. The radio announcement of the next morning informs Nancy that not only was the drink drugged, but she would have been killed had she “won” the Newcomer. As she realizes how close she came to death, Nancy spots a Volkswagen Bug tailing her. She recognizes it as the same as the Newcomer’s, and in panic drives as fast as she can to escape. The Bug finally passes her, revealing the driver to be a middle-aged woman, not the Newcomer. Nancy, in shock, travels back to the sorority house, which has transformed into a crime scene. At the sight of one of Margaret’s scrunchies on the ground, Nancy break down into sobs.
