A Normal Night.

Have you ever looked at your partners phone?

‘a normal night.’ explores trust in modern relationships. How technology connects us, yet pulls us apart. How we build walls through our phones to protect ourselves, and use them to disguise our own failures and mistakes.

This debut short film from writer and director Olivia D’Lima (Casualty) focuses on LUCY and OBI; a mixed race, middle-class, millennial couple who spend more time looking at their phones than each other. LUCY especially uses her phone as a device for escapism and as such, is able to ignore the glaring issues in her relationship. It’s amazing how much more that little device knows about us than the people around us. And how what we project onto others often shows what we really are.
