Straight from a hospital night shift Karen has to care for her mother Rose who has dementia. Her husband Geoff drops her off but is annoyed that Karen is the only one helping Rose. After a heated exchange between the two Karen goes into the house.
After a painful conversation and a burst of frustration leaves Rose frightened, Karen decides she can not leave like this, and decides to create a memory box with her mother. They spend the morning looking at old photographs, playing piano and sharing a dance to her favourite music. When it is time for Karen to leave Rose says her name for the first time in a very long time. For Karen the moment is extremely short lived and disappears just as quick.
