Kwagala

Volunteers from California traveled to Uganda to teach in Luzira Upper Prison and Sure Prospects School. They learned more than they taught and discovered the meaning of Kwagala while at Sure Prospects. Francis Kamuhanda founded Sure Prospects because he was once a child with a disability who saw his family suffer through the pain of having a child with a disability because it is a bad omen/stigma in Ugandan culture. The school has a 3:1 ratio of students without special needs fully integrated with those with special needs. With scarce resources, the inclusive culture of learning and the radiant spirit of song and dance makes Sure Prospects amazingly unique.
