“Guardians of Ua Huka” follows Tuhuna, our guardian, as he explores this remote island, taking in its ancient culture and unique wildlife. Situated in the remote Marquesas islands of French Polynesia, this island is the only inhabited island in the region not to have been infested with black rats, which not only affect island livelihoods, but would also kill the native bird species that are found no where else. The film looks at the interwoven life of islanders on the island with the natural world around them, living both with and off of the land, air and sea.
