Exhale

Exhale

In the French historical novel Les Misérables, Victor Hugo reminds us that “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise”. There will come a day when we finally exhale the deadly breath of misery, fear and isolation that our everyday lives have become ubiquitous with. In this real-life drama which pulls us away from this tasteless new reality of life into the finest moments of togetherness in a ‘normal’ version of life lived in a post- or pre-pandemic era, we share the bedside of an elderly grandmother as she looks back on seven frames of her life leading to these very last breaths of loneliness and distress.
