The Pleasants Effect is a documentary on the life of C.R. Pleasants, a man who claimed to be able to change the weather.

During the ’30s and ’40s, Pleasants was a familiar though hardly ordinary sight at California’s fog-bound airfields.

Arriving in a black truck emblazoned with orange lightning bolts, this tall, thin man in storm-colored clothing was there to demonstrate the invention he kept hidden behind its double-locked steel doors.

The Pleasants Effect is a true story, one of miracles and con-men, achievement and rejection, ballyhoo and self-delusion.

It is the story of an inventor, his implausible invention, and the family that believed in them both.
